Iceland Heli Assist Ski Touring Trip
Why should Iceland be on my life list?
The Troll Peninsula is a skier's and boarder’s dreamland with a perfect mix of steep couloirs, steep panels, and wide open glacier runs. What really sets Iceland apart from any other ski destination is the fact that you can ski 3000-4000’ to the water. Standing on top of a magnificent mountain at 66 degrees north with the deep blue of the Arctic Ocean ahead and endless snow capped peaks on all other sides is something utterly unique and spellbinding.
The Lodge
The lodge is perfectly situated on the Troll Peninsula with amazing ski touring across the road and spectacular waterfront views across the fjord to the Gold Coast. It is 40 minutes away from the Akureyri airport and strategically located right in the middle of the best skiing terrain on the Troll Peninsula and within a short drive to many geothermal hot springs. It has a chef for all meals, drying room, heli pad, sauna, and hot tub on site!
Heli Assist Touring
Our Ski Touring Trip includes 90 minutes of flight time for helicopter transfers. We will start most mornings with a helicopter transfer to the top of a peak. Warm up with a long descent before you start a day of touring. This is a great way to explore the Troll Peninsula allowing you to go a little further into the terrain.
The average ski run is around 3000ft in vertical drop and we average 7000’ of downhill and 3500’ of uphill per day thanks to the heli.
